Follow Jimmy Dean Branson from abusive childhood to serial killer adult. He’s sexually perverse and morally abhorrent. And you see it all through his eyes.
Jimmy has a strange relationship with normalcy. On the one hand, he is disgusted by the normal, innocent, suburban life he encounters as he travels across America. On the other, he thinks he might want a normal family and to grow old with a woman. So he violates and murders an entire family to steal a wedding ring. Logic doesn’t appear to be his strength.
He drinks and does drugs to become numb. And in his travels, he seems to feel most at home with his anonymity. When he is about to be suspected for murder, he moves on. I’m not going to lie, it was hard watching trusting people make themselves vulnerable to him, over and over again. Seeing victims through a predator’s eyes isn’t for the weak.
It was a truly interesting and disturbing story. Watch your triggers, there are many. But I’d definitely recommend it for the strong-willed reader.
